Elden will take Hemsedal case further – Romsdals Budstikke

Thursday, he wrote letters to the Director of Public Prosecutions where he asks for justification, before he takes a position on ‘how the matter can be dealt with further’, writes Aftenposten.

The lawyer now representing aggrieved Andrea Voll Voldum in the case where three men was acquitted of gang rape of 18-year-old woman in Hemsedal.

– It is very difficult to understand why the judgment was not appealed only by reading it. As it is written, scream it after being appealed to the Supreme Court and is likely to be abolished, writes Elden in an email to the newspaper.

According to the lawyer, there are five ways to take the matter further on: new review and prosecute the three men with other penal provisions than rape provisions, an investigation of Public Prosecutions decision not to appeal, appeal the Public Prosecutions decision to the Court , compensation claims against the Ministry of Justice, or an increase in criminal injuries compensation.

Elden, together with several other law experts previously stated that the judgment should have been appealed to the Supreme Court. (© NTB)
