Police were threatened with a weapon at Elverum – Aftenposten

The episode began at 15 o’clock Sunday. A police patrol approached the man at his address on JØMNA at Elverum to make a house searches.

When a man should have reacted by withdrawing forward a two-handed weapon.

– He threatened police with guns through a window in the house, said operations manager Kjartan Waage told Aftenposten.

Police officers were so close when they were threatened that they were able to recognize the type of weapon, but Waage do not want to say whether it was a shotgun or a rifle.

the man has no weapons permit.

Inland police working to achieve a dialogue with the man. He shall dwell alone at the address, but it is not clear whether it is located others in the house.

– We have not made contact with the man, and do not know if he is still in the house or if he has managed to get away, said Waage Aftenposten at 19:05.

When the police in Hedmark already sent out an inquiry regarding an unregistered green VW LT panel van which has tended to stand beside the house.

– Your car is not there now, so we wonder if he might have used it to run away, says Waage.

the man, who is in his mid 20s, is an acquaintance of the police. But he is not past violence condemned and is not known by police to be mentally unstable. But it clarifies not necessarily the situation in any way.

– We do not want to put their own crews in danger and awaiting dertfor situation before we decide to go into the house, says Waage.

LATEST: the man was arrested at 21 o’clock

– He was arrested in a grove not far from the residence. It happened quietly and without drama, said operations manager Kjartan Waage in Inland police.

There were neighbors who spotted the man as he ran from the house and across a field nearby. The local police received assistance of the police helicopter to locate him. He did not carry the firearm he had threatened earlier in the day.

– he had put it down not far from where he was arrested, said Waage.

He has so far not been brought clarity of why the threat situation arose. The man is sitting in jail until Monday. Then it will be up to one of the district’s lawyers to decide whether he should be produced for remand.
