Residents of asylum reception centers for unaccompanied minors in Åsane must out by December.

UDI down 7,000 reception centers across the country. The reason is that it has come fewer asylum seekers than expected this year, which has meant that four out of ten reception centers not in use, according to a press release.

– It is always sad to have to lay down reception when it touches skilled employees, many communities, adult residents and children. But we can not defend economical to have such a large spare capacity, says Christine Wilberg, director of Immigration, in the press release.

10 reception in UDI’s western region will be closed, including the reception of unaccompanied minors in Åsane .

Ordinary reception: Klepp (150 seats) Husnes reception center (150 seats) Øygarden (150 seats) Høyland (150 seats) Karmøy (150 seats) Stryn (150 seats) Bømlo (146 seats) & amp; nbsp; Reception of unaccompanied minors: Forde (30 seats) Sørbøvåg (40 seats) Åsane (30 seats)

– There is a risk to children

a total of 1146 asylum center seats disappear thus in the western region. The reception in Åsane has 30 seats. At the end of July, 27 of the seats filled, according to the press advisor in UDI, Therese Bergwitz-Larsen.

– It is very negative for the kids. They are in a vulnerable situation and have been waiting for answers to their cases. Now they have just started to school, and do not know where they will stay from December. There will be an additional source of uncertainty for them, says lawyer Aina Heldal Boe.

– I understand that they must lay down where it stands empty, but the reception in Åsane is full of youngsters, says Heldal Boe.

– We will ensure a smooth transition

Although the reception is almost fully, it must be shut down. Stig Arne Thune, head of UDI’s western region, says that there is an overall assessment that determines which reception laid down.

– I will not hide the fact that price is an important factor in this assessment, but it is not the whole picture, said Thune.

residents must now move to other reception. Thune says that UDI will try to move residents as nearby reception as possible.

– We will promptly inform residents so they can get a predictable life where they know where they will be staying. Several have school and extracurricular activities, and it is something we take seriously, and we will ensure a smooth transition to a new residence, said Thune.

Out by December

UDI writes in the press release that most asylum centers has a notice period of three months. That means residents in the asylum centers have to move by 1 December.

“Depending on the number of asylum seekers and forecasts for 2017, it may be necessary to lay down even more receipts next year,” writes the UDI in the press release.
