200 animals rescued after dramatic låvebrann – TV 2

on Wednesday afternoon there was a violent fire in a barn in Moelv in Hedmark.

It must have been around 250 cows in the barn when the fire started.

According to the fire department they managed and a large number of volunteers to rescue out around 200 animals alive.

There are only ruins left of the large barn.

Got out all the calves

the Fire department worked several hours on the blast to extinguish the fire and save the animals inside the barn.

It looks like we have got out all the calves, and many of the cows, ” says a leader in the fire service, Jan Petter Breilid to TV 2.

the Fire has probably been limited because the ceiling is between floors of a building have withstood the fire. The roof over where the animals stood was concrete, and may have saved many.

There was no open flame directly where the animals were standing, but a lot of smoke, ” says Breilid.

There were also three veterinarians on site who assessed the euthanasia of injured animals.

Pushed out

Pictures from the site showed that more cows searched into the burning barn again, after having been rescued out. Both the fire department and the volunteer have to push cows down to a separate enclosure in the field.

There was dense smoke inside, and many of the animals searched back to the barn. Some of them had to almost be dragged out, ” says sheriff Bob Krogstad to your TV 2.

It is still unclear what caused the fire.
