The new board of the Islamic Council Norway under disagreement – the NRK

the Whole of the old board went out of 4. June in the year in protest against that the council had rejected the resignation of the secretary-general Mehtab Afsar in a council meeting.

Chairman of the board Ghulam Abbas claimed that the board had revealed serious deficiencies in the Afsars work, something the sitting board of directors believed had led to the significant weakening of the IRNs reputation. The evaluation ended with Abbas and the rest of the board resigned, the secretary-general, but the decision was therefore overprøvd of the parent council. Then went to the full board in place.

Saturday was the long-promised extraordinary general meeting held. A new board of directors consisting of eight men was chosen among 17 nominated candidates.

Five of them were women, but none had unfortunately the opportunity to stand for election, write to the council on its website.

Chairman of the board in the new board of directors is Zaeem Shaukat and vice chairman is Abdirahman Diriye.

The new board of directors now sit until the annual general meeting in march next year and is granted ansvarsfrihet for the period from the 4. June, when the old board resigned in protest, and up to 15. October.

the Conflict has created major waves within the muslim collaboration in Norway. Some mosques should have threatened to resign if not the Afsar go by, and there has been talk about forming a new organization
